Hi! I'm Emilia.
I'm a freelance project manager for marketing and events in the fields of art, culture and tourism. I first came to Marrakech in 2017 and fell in love. Since then I've been commuting between Berlin and Marrakech.
The average tourist spends 1.2 nights in Marrakech - by far not enough to discover the rich contemporary art scene on its own. It took me several years to explore all the places I will show you. I would have loved to find someone, who introduces me to these.
So this is what I'm offering to you.
APPROACH
I'm not an art scholar or collector - I just love art in everyday life. And this is very easy to find in Marrakech, you can see beauty in every corner if you open your eyes to it. It can be seen in doors, windows, writings on the walls, postcards, artisanal work or even in food and it tells a lot about the Moroccan society.
My approach is rather inspired by popculture than by artscience. I'm interested in photography, streetart, architecture, graphic design, typography, music - and that is what you will get to see on my tours.
MEET ME DIGITALLY
In June 2021, I've been organising and moderating a digital political study trip to Morocco for the German travel agency Alsharq. Throughout 2 days we've been discussing topics such as Gender Relations, sustainability, the work of NGOs, the impact of Corona, Amazigh culture, LGBTQ activism, women empowerment, press & journalism and many more with our speakers and attendees. (Introduction is in German language.)
Also for the German travel agency Alsharq I've been organising and moderating a digital event about Morocco in September 2020. With our speakers, such as Bauke Baumann of Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Maroc, Prof. Fatima Sadiqi, Facil Issam of Pikala Bikes or Reuben Yemoh Godoi of the Minority Globe, we've been discussing topics like Gender Relations, Social Entrepreneurship or Migration in the Kingdom. (Event is in English language.)
